Off The Wall

Last night I hosted the PRIDE Drag Slam at Re-Bar for the Seattle Poetry Slam. Our feature poet was the very so talented and utterly beautiful Tara Hardy. (She's my aunt!)

And this evening I'll be hosting another event for Rain City Slam's Liner Notes. Liner Notes is a event where every month one album is chosen then each song is given to a poet to write a poem from. It's one of my favorite events to take part of. This month's album was the late great Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall"

feels like september, morning

 

I woke up early this morning to rain. So I made a cup of tea and smiled. To me, it felt like September which I love. I enjoy summer but love fall.

 

On Sunday I did a TEDx Talk which was amazing. It was myself and the rest of the 2012 Seattle Slam Team. It was life changing! After that day, I have so much more fate in the world. People are doing things, people are changing the world.

Yesterday I went with the boo and we watch World War Z. Crazy ass movie! It had all my fears; little dogs, needles, and a massive horrible airplane crash. All that was missing was a banana.

Yes. I have a fear of bananas.

Waking up in a good mood is the best. Rolling over and thinking "It feels good to be alive."

Life. Is a funny thing. We might as well enjoy it while we can.

  

Yesterday was the summer solstice. It's the first day of summer and the longest day of the year because of the time the sun sets. It's suppose to be magical day. A day of growth and other juju like that. If you forgot or didn't realize it, no worries, you can pretend it's today.

I know I am.

I've always been a fan of instagram but saw this little online documentary about it and fell in love with the app again. It's fun way to share the world your personal point of view. (Yes, even share a #selfie or two - also follow me: @missestelle)

Yeah. Remember me?

So.... I have not been able to post because I let my friend borrow my camera. But don't think I forgot about this blog. I did some great shopping yesterday with J.mena. Found a vintage suitcase that Miss Mena bought for $7.00 ending up being worth $500+.

Yeah. Yet another great reason to go thrifting...

But besides my friend having my camera, I've been heavily distracted by summer fun and summer sun.

Corny ass shit. 

  

the great wheel

Yesterday my "boston boo" (a.k.a my darling and wonderfully talented friend Caroline) was in town. So that meant not only do I get to act like a tourist in my own city which I LOVE doing I got to hang out with her as well. Her one request; go on the ferris wheel. And I've been dying to go! So it worked out.

After that we walked around Pike Place and shopped. It was quite a lovely day.

 

It's getting hot here in Seattle, however I am a bit hesitant about it staying. So I've been wearing dresses but bringing a coat (because it does get cold at night) The thing is I've been wanting to wear black, a lot lately. And it's not ideal for the sun. However, fuck it! It's fashion. My style, wear what I want, when I want.

See my mother bought this piece of art that happens to be a dress from Totokaelo and I've been so excited about wearing it.

It's such a strange piece of work! You can play with it, mold it, and it even has a hood. I don't know how to explain it and these photos don't do it justice, but DAMN! I love having a mom who knows how to shop. (And me, being her daughter who knows how to borrow a.k.a. steal it.)
