#CHBP2014

 photo IMG_6966_zps424122ae.jpg

It's the dreaded Monday. This past weekend was the Capitol Hill Block Party. A summer time festival full of music, great people watching, dancing, drinking (which I of course did not take part in but had a blast pretending I was drunk), fashion, and did I mention music?!

 photo IMG_6965_zps8ed420ae.jpg

Just to name a few highlights was seeing Tan Lines, Star Slinger, Country Lips, Shaprece, Chromeo, ASAP Ferg, ASAP Rocky, but my favorite bring Matt & Kim. I got a few pictures to share with y'all. Now I would of snapped more of fashion but I was too busy enjoying myself.

But alas, it is now over. We must wait until next year. For now, I get a day to recoup which means one thing - jeans and a t-shirt. Nothing can rival this classic duo.

been about a minute or so

Been gone. If you haven't noticed. Working, writing, not working, not writing. Blogging and of course not blogging.

 photo IMG_6157_zps527ef7f6.jpg

I stay better up to date on twitter and Instagram if you are wondering what I have been up too. As spring begins to swine down summer is just waiting to get started! I headed to Sasquatch this past weekend with my boyfriend and friends. I saw Outkast! You have no idea how much their music means too me. My first rap album ever was Outkast and to see them live was life changing. No for real - LIFE CHANGING!

They have such spirit and swagger and have the best energy.

I also caught Haim, MIA, Chance The Rapper, Tyler the Creator, Neko Case, of course my friends in Fly Moon Royalty, Flavr Blue and of course Mary Lambert. A jam packed weekend of sun, fun, camping and music. But between you and me, once it was done I was over it. I am not a camper or someone who roughs it well. I just don't.

It was fun while it lasted.

Most likely to have wore this before. But really - no biggie! Sport it like it's the first time.

being that morning

 photo IMG_3551_zps8b5aa1b0.jpg  photo IMG_3552_zps0a7966c7.jpg

I don't mind sleeping over at my boyfriend's house; it's just the waking up and dealing with the real world in the morning that I hate. But I guess I hate that no matter where I wake up. Haha!

Well, either way, the secret for those who find these selves waking up in a bed that isn't yours is to be ready. To be well prepared. It's the reason I have such a huge purse. It carries everything I ever would want or need. (Tooth brush, cap stick, rings, necklace, leggings, underwear, etc.)

Ladies (or gentlemen) don't apologie for your big purse or bag. Just quote the one and only basket-case from The Breakfast Club when asked why you have so much stuff in your bag: "Because you don't know when you gotta jam."

 photo IMG_3553_zps10a6350e.jpg  photo IMG_3554_zpsd69fdafa.jpg

Not to mention, I didn't get any sleep last night. I was up all night from a terrible cough. But like I've always said "Look better than how you feel."

DIY: "wearing a square"

 photo DSC_0045_zps0eb565bd.jpg

Still no constant daily style posts because I am trying to figure out a new camera situation. For the time being though you deserve a good old fashion DIY.

So, I was at Nordstrom a while back and saw this sweater for $38 bucks! Really? I mean, really?! I was not going to pay 38 dollars for that.

Not to mention I wasn't a big fan of the cuts in the back so why not make my own, my own way.

On top of that; yesterday my mother and I went the Seattle Art Museum to check out the "Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion"exhibition where I got a lot of great inspiration ideas! I highly recommend it for everyone and anyone. I couldn't take pictures but I was able to take notes.

A lot of best Japanese fashion is all about shapes and dimensions. My favorite thought was the idea of "wearing a square." Don't know what I mean? Well, I believe this DIY is an ideal example of that.

And all you need is a sweater (mine: goodwill for $5.00) and a pair of scissors.

 photo DSC_0018_zpsaa5eb51d.jpg

Fold the sweater in half, arm to arm, and then cut two or three inch slits equal distances apart.

Cut on the seam of the arm but not around the neck.

Like so.
 photo DSC_0026_zps58abc2de.jpg

Ideal for fall. Fashion that breaths.

It's just that easy. I love how space age it looks; something straight out of Star Trek. Enjoy!

Dark Side of Summer

 photo IMG_2035_zpsab3b2aec.jpg

Summer brights can be cliche. Sometimes you just need to go for darker shades.
