something about layers

 photo DSC_0002_zps15c1cebf.jpg

Hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years. Mine was wonderful! Super chill which is an ideal way to start the New Year. I went to The Flavr Blue show at Crocodile with my girl Gabby and the boyfriend. I took as many Polaroids and Photo Booth pictures as I could. (You know if you follow my Instagram)

(This song takes me back to last January. Please excuse my nostalgic moment.)

But this day - Ah! A day off. I didn't get to sleep in but there's something nice about an early Saturday morning when you don't have to work. The ultimate lazy. Just take things at a very slow, steady pace.

I think I am going to make Rose Gold my color for 2014. I mean my name is all over it. Literally. The watch is one from Nordstrom Rack and this great necklace is from Zebra Club, the brand Cheap Monday (one of my favorites) I mean, I thought that this paperclip necklace was made for a writer like me.

You could never go wrong with layers. You can certainly go overboard but never wrong. And coffee - is the best accessory.

Fifth - What's everyone doing for New Year's?! I can believe this year is over. It felt like a year and I am actually OK that it's over. It wasn't a bad year but it wasn't a good year either. I grew - a lot. I mean a WHOLE lot. Which is probably why I am so indifferent about how I feel about 2013. Either way I am always excited for change. Let's go 2014!

I am going to try to write up a year in review tomorrow but of course depends how busy or lazy I'm feeling.

Also - This is most def a flashback outfit. Tomboy circa 2011

New Years Outfit?

The New Year's is about glitter, sparkle, going out with a BANG and ringing in the new. So yesterday while shopping I came up with some tips for the prefect New Year's outfit. Here are 3 I throw together while shopping (all these outfits were under $20.00) Enjoy!

Rule # 1: Must be wearable
Make sure it fits, is comfortable, and it suits you. You don't want to be the girl who is falling out of her dress or needs to adjust it ever 5 seconds.

I found this great strapless velvet sweetheart cut dress and paired it with a royal blue blazer.

Rule # 2: Make it shine!
Let's be honest sequins were made just for New Year's. They sparkle, shine, and look great under any light. You must bring in the New Year as flashy as you can. The louder and brighter the outfit, I believe, the better.

I found this beautiful gold sequin dress and matched it with a velvet lined black blazer.

Rule # 3: Mix it up!
Dresses are great but not for everyone. Find a great shiny classy button up and some sexy simple pants to truly make everyone's jaw drop.

I found this olive gold button up and tied it. The pants are men's tuxedo pants.

Rule # 4: Have fun with it!
I am someone who takes this holiday seriously when it comes to what I wear. I am wearing sequin pants, leopard jacket, and Timerbland shoes. I am going out with my closet friends, not making any real fans, and going to dance the night away!!

I hope you guys enjoy the rules and have a wonderful night!

2011 is so last year: BRING ON 2012

It may or may not be the end of world, either way it's going to be a great year! 2011 was so good to me I only hope and wish 2012 is even better. (p.s. here is last year's post)

A random and strange list of things I did in 2011:
  • quit one job and landed another
  • went to LA
  • meet Amber Tamblyn
  • meet David Cross
  • meet Donald Glover
  • freestyled in front of Donald Glover
  • was 21 for a whole year
  • #GUTTERSNIPE turned 1 years old
  • spent my birthday in New York
  • toured with poetry
  • released my first book of poetry
  • had my first art show

  • had a meeting at CAA in LA
  • went to Boston
  • went to CUPSI as a coach of UW poetry team
  • went to NPS as member of the Seattle Poetry Team
  • got more serious about my filmmaking
  • started Movers & Shakers

Now from me to you:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Make sure to make the best of it, don't stress, smile, throw all your troubles away, don't let anyone bring you down but most important: dance! Dance as much as you can.
