Man. I need to also "rethink" this whole self care thing. I feel like I've been running on everyone else's time and have completely forgotten about myself. Isn't being in your 20s all about being selfish.

I was named Roseanne because my mother had always been a fan of the name. I wasn't named after anyone, dead or living. Just a simple name my mother and father both thought was elegant and lovely. My middle name however is from my great grandmother Estelle.

She was my mom's favorite grandmother. I never got to met here but from hearing stories I was told I am a lot like her not to mention she apparently one hell of a sassy lady with exquisite taste. My sister and I were recently gifted a lot of her possessions like some goofy hand made rugs, elegant teacups, and adorable knick knacks.

  

One of my favorite things I am now the proud owner of is this beautiful silk rose scarf. I always feel like a character from a movie when I wear a scarf in my hair. Something from a classic 50's beach theme movie. I am cheesy like that. What can I say.

I also finally found time to paint my nails. I usually don't care if my nails are painted but in the summer time I like to think of it as an extra accessory.

I haven't sat down to blog in forever. I honesty feel a bit rusty. Most of outfits have been "lazy" takes on things I've already posted. I am not fancy enough where I only have to wear one outfit once. I recycle again and again. Of course adding and subtracting accessories. That's the key ladies & gentlemen. Which up your rings, necklaces, socks, and shoes.

And on another note - tonight, remember it's the first Friday of June. So make it a good one!

    

MTV has been slacking on the "music" part and I am not the biggest fan of their reality tv shows however Girl Code is my shit! One of the lovely ladies on their had a little moment for the tall ladies in the world. Her advice - wear heels! Screw the people who don't like it if you are tall already. I never wear heels because I am already 5 11 but screw it. These booties were too cute to pass up. And I enjoy being tall, thank you very much. xo

DIY: Jewelry Dish

I've been trying to reorganize my room for awhile now. As I mentioned yesterday I was trying to clean it. (I got one section done.)

My goal is to fall in love with my room again. To make more space, get rid of things, and of course be more organized. First step I took was my bed side table. I have a lot of jewelry and accessories. And I've been looking around the internet and blogs to see how people kept their things together. The best idea I found was the jewelry dish. Really simple! But here's a little DIY to add your own spin to it.

***Side Note: The best place to shop for any items when redecorating, reorganizing, or trying to find cheap storage go to my FAVORITE place on earth the Daiso store! It's where I find the best containers and any cute item to help spurs up my room.

It's where I found this plate, and many others, in the dinner wear area. Best part everything coast either a $1.50 or $3.50.

For this DIY you need:
Plate or dish (Target, Daiso, Goodwill, etc)
Sharpie

Using the sharpie draw any design you want. Make sure you let it draw for at least a second so it doesn't smear or run.

Just that easy. And looks great!

      

I also purchased some bowls as well. (Remember: using something like plates, dinner wear, or other ordinary items for storage is cute & ideal! Think outside the box.)

something about layers

Hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years. Mine was wonderful! Super chill which is an ideal way to start the New Year. I went to The Flavr Blue show at Crocodile with my girl Gabby and the boyfriend. I took as many Polaroids and Photo Booth pictures as I could. (You know if you follow my Instagram)

(This song takes me back to last January. Please excuse my nostalgic moment.)

But this day - Ah! A day off. I didn't get to sleep in but there's something nice about an early Saturday morning when you don't have to work. The ultimate lazy. Just take things at a very slow, steady pace.

I think I am going to make Rose Gold my color for 2014. I mean my name is all over it. Literally. The watch is one from Nordstrom Rack and this great necklace is from Zebra Club, the brand Cheap Monday (one of my favorites) I mean, I thought that this paperclip necklace was made for a writer like me.

You could never go wrong with layers. You can certainly go overboard but never wrong. And coffee - is the best accessory.

ended up somewhere wonderful

I went to the most wonderful show/club/art show/event this evening. It was a circus of visual art, music and dancing. I can't explain it but it got my creative juices going. I can't explain it.

I posted a few pictures on instagram but doesn't truly do it justice. I snapped a lot of pictures with my fancy camera. Here's a few to help you get an understanding of what exactly went down.

   

 

      

But even those photos don't even do it justice. Oh well! Just had to be there I guess.

 

Also, always remember, next to a great smile and confidence, a camera is one of the best accessories.
