5 things I am in love with... right now.

5. Pendleton
Fucking expensive as shit but when found at a thrift store it's worth it's weight in gold. I also saw a pair of Nikes and Doc Martens with this infamous pattern on them made me want it even more. Might buckle down and get a pair.

4. Interview Magazine
It's recently become my new favorite. I always buy it at my Pike Place Newsstand, great read for work/the bus. I like how big it is not to mention endless inspiration in it as well.

3. Jerseys
Still on this trend. I think it's because I have yet to find one I want. Hockey! I want a hockey one. The ILL American one I really wanted was too expensive as well as out of stock. My boyfriend doesn't understand. But I like it!

2. instax mini 25
I love my new camera! I forgot how sweet and nostalgic polaroids can be. Tiny moments capture it a developed on the spot picture.

1. red flats
My beloved, amazing, one-of-a-kind, so so so sad to see them go but they had too go little red flats are dead. Dead, dead, dead. I had to get rid of them. They were literally falling a part. So I am on the hunt for a new pair! This might take a long time (it might not) because those shoes were priceless! One of a million. My favorite hand-me-downs, hands down.

less style

 photo IMG_1837_zpsd9e60167.jpg
(got this great boom box at Goodwill for $7.00 - ideal for the beach)

I don't know if it's the heat, the laziness, that summer time freedom, or whatever but I am just less motivated to get dressed. I am just not a summer time stylist. I don't put too much effort in my outfits. (Which is a good thing and a bad thing) Good because I am comfy. Bad when you have a fashion blog and you are making choices that are lacking a x factor.

I am more inspired by fall and winter. I think it's because I am a girl of layers and in the summer time it's less is more kind of attitude.

I am so happy with life but the summer time state of mind but I am not really doing a lot. Just don't want to do anything. Maybe because I told myself this was the summer that I didn't do anything expect enjoy and here I am trying to fight that idea.

Oh well! Hopefully I'll just get over it and just be lazy.

But in better news; glad to be back to my natural hair color of purple.

I bought this dress last summer at Salvation Army for $5.00 but have yet to wear it. I don't know why, it's ideal for summer and super comfy. There wasn't any real need to style it. A statement piece all on it's own.

And the sad thing is; I can not part with these little red shoes. I know they are going to die soon but I will wear them until they fall apart. I also have yet to find a great pair to replace them.

when then

 photo IMG_6855_zpsba60a614.jpg

Feeling oddly nostalgic and utterly lazy today.

It's sunny blue skies here in Seattle. People here are crazy though! Running around in shorts and skirts. It's sunny, not warm.

So today I listen to my favorite mix tape of all time frank ocean's nostalgia/ultra.

And seeing as last night was a crazy night out on the town I am taking it easy this weekend. I won't think about doing something, I'll actually do something instead. Switch it up.

Dress as Shirt

There are girls who wear shirts as dress. I wear dresses as shirts. I bought this dress at forever 21 but it's waaaaaay too short for my tall body. And in all honesty I don't feel comfortable wearing it just as a dress. Maybe I can pull it off in the winter time with tights but right now... I can't.

Cafe

I don't know why but when ever I wear stripes and black high waisted pants I feel like I am channeling some classic 1940's French film star. Of course I also think of the beloved Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face and I other times I think of Sandy in the end of Grease... Strange combo.

Off to work now and then after that I am running to cafe to work on my long over due freelance writing. I have a lot on my plate, so thank goodness I got all my Christmas shopping and sewing done!

Side note: Since I "ball on a budget" I am somewhere who wears the same things over and over again. I LOVE these high waisted pants and this striped shirt. And I shouldn't feel "ashamed" that I wear them all the time. The secret is just to remember to mix up the outfits. So go ahead, be a repeat offender!

30/30

Sunday. Such a lovely day.

I spent this Sunday with my (lovely and slightly crazy) family. We went to go see "Rango" (HIGHLY recommend it), my mother made corn beef for home made reuben sandwiches, and a game of Apples to Apples.

I had the Helen Keller card and BLOW IT on something stupid.

red shoes - (hand-me-downs)
leather leggings - (American Apparel) $16.00
stripped shirt - (H&M) $4.00
belt - (Goodwill) $1.00
cardigan - (My mother's: hand-me-down)
necklace - (Goodwill) $1.00

Side note: April is Poetry Month.
For each day you write a poem. You don't need to be a poet to do so. The only catch is that you have to post it somewhere for people to read it. Facebook, blogspot, tumblr, ect.

Another side note: April is also an wardrobe challenge.
Take 30 items from you own closet, mix and match them for 30 days. I am not doing this, BUT here are some following blogs that are:

It's a cool idea that I would love to try out at some point.

march madness, oysters, and little red shoes

But truly, what more could a girl need?

Today is another sunny gloomy day in the armpit of the Northwest. I was woken by my March Madness team (Kansas) losing. I was OK with it only because the team that beat them (VCU) is an underdog and I love those kind of upsets. Reminds me why I love basketball.

Then for lunch I went with my mother for happy hour to get fresh oysters at Lecosho.

All of this being done wearing my favorite pair of shoes: my little red (hand-me down) flats.

I use to HATE hand me downs.
But I soon got over that and learned to embrace it.
