yeah, but it's so nice outside

It's hard to leave my house sometimes. But it's such a beautiful day in my city. I have to go out and celebrate it somehow. Also I got some disheartening news, so I have to do something to bright my day. Sun makes everything better.

Photos of a lovely Brunch I had on Sunday with my girl j.mena. It was the ideal Sunday. Good food, great company, music, art, and Jurassic Park in 3D.

5 things I am in love with... right now

5. Black Strapped Pumps/Black heels
I am not a heels girl, at all. It's because I am already so tall and I don't want to seem crazier taller, but I am getting over that. Plus, heels matched with baggy boyfriend jeans is always a sexy outfit. Hopefully I'll find a pair.

4. Gettin' Healthy & Staying Healthy
I don't believe in diets. But don't just pig out on fast food, fatty snacks, or over processed food. Being healthy is about eating what you want but being smart about it. Also working out whether it's a walk, dancing, or running on a treadmill.

3. Lime Crime Make-up
My sister actually turned me on to the company a while back with their instagram. I mean their logo is a unicorn, HELLO! All their products are unique, youthful, and just fun. I am not even into make up, but their lipsticks are banging!

2. Guy Code
I've been watching this show at 3 seasons but they recently just had a massive marathon on MTV 2. I am in love, love, LOVE with that show. It's just the right amount of humor, stupidity, and actually facts. I've been asking every guy I know if they watch it. Because it's Guy Code, learn it fool.

Mickey badass

MellowHype was a great show! Trash Talk (I had never ever heard about them before Thursday's Show) were intense to say they least. It's not my cup of tea but they did put on a fun show. Moshing is a serious sport.

Afterwards my girl Neko and I entertained ourselves by bar hopping, photo booth photos and me setting up mini photo shoots with her as my subject. I like to make my own fun and my own trouble.

Some guys at the bar wanted to get on this photo shoot action and I noticed his "made man glitter shoes." I had to snap a pictures of these beauties. Such a guttersnipe move.

Yesterday got a Christmas Tree with my family. Getting more into the spirit. Which is nice because this is my favorite time of year. Today going to get some work done before my holiday break kicks off. Going to be a crazy couple of weeks ahead of me.

The story about this sweatshirt: I got it as a gift a few Christmas ago from my sister's exboyfriend. She dumped the guy, I kept the sweatshirt. It was from one of my favorite shops in Seattle called "Winner's Circle"which sadly doesn't exist anymore. It's a priceless item.

inspired thrifting: antiques vs thrifiting

As promised I am posting the photos from the antiques shops I went to with my sister when I was down in Olympia. Now let it be know there is a differences between vintage, thrifing and antiquing. People could argue that they are all the same but a true guttersnipe knows the differences.

For example my sister is a black belt in all three. I on the other hand am not. I am still trying to master vintage shopping and antiquing. I think I've broke down vintage vs thrifting before but too lazy to search my database (a.k.a the blog.) For right now I am going to tackle antiquing vs thrifting.

I like to think that one starts off as a thrifter and you work your way to antiquing. Shopping for antiques you need a good eye. You are basically searching for items that you can purchase, hold on to, and wait for their value to increase over time.

While thrifting is mostly about clothes. Antiquing is for pricey knick knacks, furniture, classic items from decades ago and house items. The two go hand and hand. Both art forms, both about the hunt, but you need to be in two different mind frames when you tackle either. That's why there are thrift stores and antique stores. Antique stores are usually more pricey.

The Line-Up

Now today I went to goodwill with j.mean and her co-worker from work. I was going to do a NYLON challenge because I haven't done one in awhile but realized I only have the November issue and November is pretty much over so I'll wait. Plus, I didn't like any of the trends they were highlighting in this month's issue. However I did see a pattern while shopping; lines & stripes.

A striped shirt is a good basic to have in your closet. They can be dressed up, a great staple piece, preppy, and a hint of french.

guttersnipe's 10 fall (accessories) essentials

Fall is among us! September, October, and November are by far my favorite months. They have so much promise to them and always have such a great fresh feeling. So with that I thought I should share with y'all my top ten must have fall accessories essentials. And with that said here they are (in no particular order):

10. Bamboo Door Knocker Earrings - I am a fan of them. So trashy and so 80's. I am all about working them year round but fall is the best season for them.

Beauty Supply Store

9. China Glaze Sea Spray & Fifth Avenue Nail Polish - These colors are great! Fifth Avenue is a very red rust color and Sea Spray is a gray color that dries with dark blue streaks. I am of course wearing both right now. They go great together.

Beauty Supply Store

8. Krink Paint Marker in Mint - I am a huge fan of fat paint pens and hands down Krink make the best kind. This is the pen I actually use as the accent color for the new logo.

Art Supply Store

7. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - After a long day and a nice cup of tea, whoo yee! These are the best.

6. Target Mossimo Leggings - I can wear these every day if I could. They look good with anything, Great to work out in, sleep in, and even go out in. A HUGE fall must have for me.

Grocery Store                                                        Target

5. Beanies - I mean, I got to keep my head warm. I mean, I got to keep my head warm in style.

4. Red Lipstick - Once again another year round item for me but nothing like a little pop of bright red lips in the fall season.

Alive & Well                                     Chanel "Rogue" Lipstick

3. Scarfs - Got to keep that neck warm! I usually go for either bright scarfs for fall because like rep lips it's another place to add a great pop of color or a crazy graphic prints that will help improve a more chill layout back outfit.

Nordstrom Rack

2. Manic Panic Ultra Violet Hair Dye - I mean my hair is naturally purple because I am a guttersnipe unicorn but days I need to freshen it up...

Beauty Supply Store

1. Chuck Taylors - I've been "craving" a pair of chucks for a while now. I was going to great a cream color (a wiser choice for fall) but I went with the bold white because why not. Screw those silly "no white after labor day" rules! Plus these shoes are made to get beat up and dirty. It gives them some character.
