that won item

 photo IMG_2937_zps8d830d21.jpg

I cleaned out of closet (for those who didn't read my last post) and I feel like a weight has been lifted. It's crazy that way. In light of doing this I made a pack with myself not to buy any new clothes until the new year. Well, I of course had to do one more purchase.

I was in Forever 21, window shopping pre-say, when I found myself in the men's section where I found these camouflage pants. Why not? They fit like an ideal skinny boyfriend jean (duh! They are men's pants) and I have been looking for a great army print jeans. So there.

NOW! Let's see if I can last until the new year without buying any new clothes. If you want, try the challenge out with me.

I've been busy. Starting a new job and have been doing a lot of personal stuff. Hard to believe but for having a bunch of blogs, I am still a very private person. Just know, I am a very happy guttersnipe. The happiest I've been in awhile.

Seattle Sunny means a little chilly. Got to play to that.

don't let that sunlight play tricks on you

It may be sunny outside but it's getting colder here.

My day started off to a late start. I slept in. Which I do a lot but today I planned on getting a head start on everything. Well so much for that plan!

Haute Demand Skull Bracelet

Tonight is The Round 89 show. Excited for that! And tomorrow is Ravenna Third Place Book reading. This book tour is starting off small but it's getting bigger.

Today I went with a comfy lay back style.  When I perform I want to feel and look good. I have this awesome ghostbusters t-shirt that I shred a while back pair with this bright green cardigan that I found in the men section at urban outfitters (I don't shop there anymore. Too expensive and too many issues) I didn't use to wear heels, I actually just bought my first pair like a month ago, but I am loving these wedge sneakers. Heels but sneakers. Great fall item! I know a lot of people hate on them (remember those silly Nike heels people posted on myspace and facebook) but I like them.

Wedge Sneakers (Shoe Dazzle) $30.00
Jeans (Levi's) $15.00
T-shirt (Goodwill) $0.99
Cardigan (Urban Outfitters) $7.99
Necklace (Goodwill) $0.99

My hair mood ring color is currently "jet grape"

Back at it (s100)

Got myself a new camera. A Canon Powershot s100. I had the s90 and I was in love with it but I am getting use to the s100 and loving all it's new features. We will see how it goes...

In the mean time, I am about to head out to catch a movie with my friend Gabby then grab drinks with some people afterwards (my drink of course being bubble water with a lime. Because I like to keep it that fancy.)

Jacket (Salvation Army) $2.50
Necklace (Target - Sale) $5.00
Flannel (Goodwill-Men's Section) $4.00
Shorts (Freebie - a friend's give away pile)

a strange kind of preppy

I feel like an evil boarding school character with this outfit today. Like someone out of Harry Potter, or The Mysterious Benedict Society, or a Tim Burton take on an EX-catholic school girl persona. Or maybe it's all in my head. And it most likely is.

(blurry guttersnipe)

It's a beautiful crisp fall day in Seattle. The sun is out but prefect sweater weather. I found the shirt in the men's section at St. Vincent De Paul. I thought the pattern was so strange, but I loved how light the material was. Prefect for layering. So I cut the shelves off and paired it with leggings.

Necklace* (Goodwill) $1.99
Sweater (Salvation Army) $2.75
Shirt (St. Vincent De Paul) $2.00
Belt (St. Vincent De Paul) $1.00
Leggings (Target) $9.00
Shoes (Shoe Dazzle) $30.00

*I wear this necklace a lot, I know. But that's the point of being a guttersnipe. You have to shop for things that will work in all the seasons, anytime, anywhere. You have to find statement jewelry (Or any article of clothing at that matter) that is versatile and will last a long time. You can wear the same thing more than once (I mean I am not ballin' like that, so I have too recycle my wardrobe) but the secret is being able to mix it up!

The Comfort of Things

I love Seattle Winter's. (Yes, I complain about them sometimes, but that in itself is a Seattle thing) I love the rain, I love reasons to wear layers & cozy clothes.

I have been working now stop but finally got all my christmas shopping done! (Remember to shop locally everyone) I also made all my holiday goodies for friends and will have a DIY up soon.

Side note: some people may know I have many alter egos. Guttersnipe and The Intern are the two main ones but there's also T!mboz. She's the hyphy one. I saw this Timberland flannel at Salvation Army and I knew I had to get it.

High and Waisted

I love high waisted jeans. I wasn't the biggest fan of "low rise" always made me feel uncomfortable and super worried I might be showing a little too much.

Anywho, this week is starting off pretty calm but will go in hyper speed later this week. So much on my plate: TED talk, art show opening, start new film project, packing, slam this week, my friend's art show, and more.

Shoes - (Nordstorm Rack) $25.00
High Waisted pants - (Topshop) $40.00
flannel shirt - (Boys section of Target) $5.99
necklace - (Goodwill) $1.00

(I hate my smile and I hardly ever look in the camera. Go figure!)

Sudden Change

This weather is really getting to me. First it's rainy and cloudy then it wants to be sunny and bright outside. I don't know what to wear!!

Oh well. I should just enjoy the summer.

So I've been keeping busy with work and poetry. And while making plans in my calendar I realized that it's almost August and this year is almost done... I know it's not time for real reflection but it's crazy to think it's almost over. So much has happened yet I know this is only the beginning.

I had the great opportunity to take pictures for Downtown Seattle's Goorin Brother's Thursday Happy Hour. (If you live in Seattle you should go!) It's every Thursday. Free soda, free beer and everything in the store is 15% off. Need I saw more?!

I posted some of the photos on the Tumblr and plan on posting more on here later.

NOW I am off to another video shot. Like I said, been busy.

DIY: Sleeveless Button Up Shirt

This is a fairly simple and easy DIY, so why not post it. I was doing some online fashion surfing and stumble on Motel Rocks. A really cool online store. I fell in love with almost everything but of course, I don't have the money to be spending on clothes right now.

One of the items I feel in love with was this Denim Sleeveless Shirt:

It was $70.00 but now $18.00.... Somewhat of a deal but being a guttersnipe I thought: "I could go cheaper." And I did!

Step one: Find a men's button up (I found mine at Salvation Army)

Step two: Turn the button up inside out. Seams showing.

Step three: Cut on the outside seam of sleeve. Then repeat on the other side.

Step four: My favorite step. Wear & Enjoy!

DIY Sleeveless shirt - (Salvation Army's men section) $3.00
Belt - (St. Vincent De Paul) $1.00
Shorts - (Goodwill) $3.00
Shoes - (Goodwill) $1.99
Necklace - (Goodwill) $1.99
Sunglasses - (Nordstrom) $10.00

Just because.

You ever have those mornings where you wake up and you're are happy. Just plain old school happy. No reason. Happy just because.

Well that's how I felt this morning. I jumped out of bed, opened the window, put on some good music and started my day. Felt great!

Of course the weather sucks and my internet has been teasing me but I brush it off. And instead of freaking out I made cookies (for a special person...)

shoes - timberlands
shorts - (Goodwill Men's section) $2.00
belt - (st. vincent De Paul) $1.00
lace body suit - (urban outfitter's sale section) $10.00
cardigan - (forever 21) Freebie
necklace - (goodwill) $1.00

And not like you need a reason to have a good day:

NYLON Challenge: T-Shirt TIME!!!

Nylon (Kate Bosworth) March 2011

Nylon (Vanessa Hudgens ) April 2011

OK. So this was a fairly easy Nylon Challenge, but it being my first one I thought I would start off with something easy.

In two Nylon issues they had a special on graphic/designed t-shirts. I feel like t-shirts should be simple and cheap. Well in both magazines (March 2011 & April 2011) the shirts ranged from $20 - $265. That's right $265.00 human dollars for a t-shirts. No pants to go with it, no necklace or shoes, just a t-shirt.

OUTRANGE!

I understand some of these t-shirts were designer shirts. But no one in their right mind will pay $265 for a shirt. And most people can't afford that!

So here are t-shirts that are just as amazing all found at Salvation Army:

All the shirts above range from $1.00 - $7.00
HINT: Want a really cool graphic t-shirts? Head to the men's section.
Then you can find a larger size, cut them however you would like.

Here are two I actually bought:

Due to these actually being on sale: both coast me one dollar.
ALSO... This video just makes scene:
