bewitching

 photo IMG_3167_zpsc2967aa4.jpg

I am crazy about this time of year! Halloween is my birthday and like I've said this about a million times but October truly has the best sun, greatest color, and such rich inspiring tones. Driving down any street and seeing the trees change color. Ah! How I love it.

I also love how magical and witchy this time of year is. I use to think I was witch when I was little when most girls at that age thought they were princess. I was a strange kid. Deal with it.

These shoes I bought awhile back always reminded me of Teen Witch or something the ladies of The Craft would wear. Plus heels can make any girl (or guy) feel like a bad ass.

Also I got to check out a new fabric store today in Freemont. I'll make sure to do a post about it soon.

DIY: Monster Cardigan

 photo DSC_0003_zps528d6778.jpg

I was doing some much needed spring clean of my closet the other day and I realized that I get attached to clothing items. Memories. Cheesy, but so true.

So instead of giving away some pieces, I thought I would just revamp a few. The steps are very similar to the Sweater Jacket and 2nd 3 (more) ways to Jazz up a t-shirt.

1. one sweater, one cardigan, one flannel, one sweater.

2. Cut both shelves off the cardigan, left arm of the flannel, and right arm of the sweater.

3. Pin in place and sew.

playinguttersnipe dress up: Schooled & Fitted caps.

Being a person who is obsessed with fashion you are never too old to play dress up. It's actually one of the best parts. So I think I am going to start a new post all about playing dress up. Which will be me pulling inspirations for outfits (kind of like Nylon Challenge) in many different places.

Like magazines, TV, music, movies, etc. and of course finding it for the low LOW price.

You know: Playinguttersnipe Dress Up. First one is from this year's August Nylon Magazine.

The Inspiration:

My take:

The Sweater - (Salvation Army) $2.75
Stripped Shirt - (Goodwill) $3.50
Red Belt - (Goodwill) $1.00
Skirt - (Gift) American Apparel
Hat - (Gift from my father) Joyrich*

Now I don't know if I would wear this outfit but doing things like this makes you expand out your comfort zone. I actually kind of like it.

*So the hat is the most expensive thing about this outfit. My dad got it for my as a birthday gift and it was about $35.00 dollars.

DIY: Sweater to Cardigan

(Currently packing for my screen writing retreat. Which means I will be MIA for about a week. I will try to update the tumblr and twitter. In the mean time....)

I got a request in my ask box on tumblr:

(The sweater they are talking about is here) So of course I had to do a DIY. Here it is done twice.

1. thermal sweater 2. turtle neck

2 ways to cut the sweater:

1. cutting a long a straight edge 2. folding in half & cut

2 ways to jazz it up:

1. sew on some buttons 2. with a turtle neck: make a collar

now wear and enjoy

Both sweaters were found at Salvation Army. The thermal was $4.50 and the floral one was $2.85

I have this really nice red flannel but I never wore it. So I did a DIY and cut the sleeves off, now it's prefect for spring and I want to wear it all the time now. Amazing how altering a shirt one way makes it new again.

shoes - (Target) $15.00
pants - (Topshop) $40.00
shirt - (Goodwill) $1.99
sweater - (Zebra Club) $15.00
Jean Jacket - (Found it) Free

Stir Crazy

I am sick and tired of all this snow. Seattle has completely shut down because of it. Which sucks because I've been stuck on home. I've watched about 12 movies in the past three days. Today it started raining so the snow is finally melting, buses seem to be working, which means I am going to try my hardest to get out of the house.

On Tuesday however I was able to get out of the house. I went and saw Theophilus London. He is amazing live! However he lost me when he played his "newest" song.... for those who were there you know what I am talking about. Here are some pictures:

One of the best live shows I've been to in awhile.

boots (Target) $30.00
jeans (Nordstrom Rack) $7.00
black t-shirt (Hand-me-down)
sweater (Goodwill) $2.50
necklace (Target) $4.99

Also Rest easy Etta James. It breaks my heart to know she's gone but her spirit will forever live in her music. My love goes out to her friends and family.
