review from the gutter: Indian Summer

 photo DSC_0005_zpsa76c199d.jpg

It being a rainy lazy sunday and I thought I would finally check out/visit my darling friend Kim Selling at her new job. Kim (a fellow fashion blogger/writer/poet and overall dope human being) landed the ideal job for her; working at hidden gem of the vintage finds at a thrift store in Capital Hill called Indian Summer.

On the corner of Mercer & Summit (down the block from Top Pot Doughnuts) Indian Summer is a tiny spot but it packs a punch! Items vary from the late 50's to more modern pieces. Even has a nice little section of men's clothing  (found an awesome sweater for the boyfriend) and also carries adorable kid's fashion.

Not to mention everything is reasonable priced. ($10-40) Plus Indian Summer does sell, trade, and buy clothes so if you have anything you need to get off your hands or want to upgrade your own closet, stop by.

Now I am not just giving this store a great review because my friend Kim works there (although that does help) but for real, Indian Summer is a vintage store with no attitude or fuss. The staff is friendly, helpful, kind, and of course all have spot on style. You can find anything on those racks that will fit all shapes, sizes, and prefect for any age.

But the biggest test is; "Yeah, but did you leave empty handed?" No! I am proud to say I left with three pieces, something for the boyfriend AND I didn't break the bank. This guttersnipe couldn't be happier.

But hey! Check it out for yourself.

5. Happy Hours
So I actually don't drink but since my best friend J.mena has moved back happy hours have become our jam. She drinks and we both eat!

4. being the [guttersnipe] queen of summertime
My girl Kim sent me this photo via my facebook and it's so true. I really just want to be the queen of summertime.

3. Icona Pop
I posted about them before. Their song "I Love It" has become my 2012 summer anthem.

2. Pen Pals
Nate Assmilk is my pen pal. And he is the best pen pal ever. He sent me a lovely gift (will be posting about it soon...) and I sent him a Huf tank as a thank you gift. Fuck the internet: get a pen pal!

1. frank ocean
I freaking love frank ocean! Ask anyone. I love him as an artists and I don't want to be a groupie. I just want to be his best friend. Really tho. I just want to write poetry with him.

My friend Gabby and I bought our tickets for his July 13th show in Seattle (Which is now sold out...) and I've been bumping his newest song now stop.
