Realized I could of done a night & day post with this outfit but it wasn't until I had to go to my mother's birthday dinner did I change my clothes. But pretty much the evening version of my "throw some shade" post.

4. being the [guttersnipe] queen of summertime
My girl Kim sent me this photo via my facebook and it's so true. I really just want to be the queen of summertime.
3. Icona Pop
I posted about them before. Their song "I Love It" has become my 2012 summer anthem.
2. Pen Pals
Nate Assmilk is my pen pal. And he is the best pen pal ever. He sent me a lovely gift (will be posting about it soon...) and I sent him a Huf tank as a thank you gift. Fuck the internet: get a pen pal!

1. frank ocean
I freaking love frank ocean! Ask anyone. I love him as an artists and I don't want to be a groupie. I just want to be his best friend. Really tho. I just want to write poetry with him.
My friend Gabby and I bought our tickets for his July 13th show in Seattle (Which is now sold out...) and I've been bumping his newest song now stop.
It sucks having my work week off by a few days. Meaning, today is my sunday and tomorrow is Monday. So while everyone else is getting ready for the freakin' weekend, I am getting ready for the week to come.
So today I did the most sunday things I could think of. Sleep in, have a grapefruit, read the newspaper, then go to a cafe and work.
Earrings - DIY Hoop earrings
sweater - (Goodwill) $3.50
shirt - (freebie: saw them in LA) The Knux Concert t-shirt
Sorry for the lack of posts. This time of year always gets a wee bit out of hand for me. My (fairly new) job requires us to look very professional and "conservative." I usually don't dress that way but I love fashion challenges!
So this of course is my take on conservative/professional (FYI I think a High Pony Tail is very professional):
Cardigan: (Goodwill Outlet) $0.10
Shirt: (H&M) $6.00
Belt: (Salvation Army)
Necklace: (Goodwill) $1.99
Pants: (Forever 21) $25.00
Socks: (Gift)
Shoes: (Salvation Army) $1.50
Scarf: (Red Light) $0.99
Peep the socks:
Socks & hearts of course.
Also! Here is the second video for my chapbook "Strong. Female. Character." which comes out December 1st. Please enjoy!
Whoa. Life is so wild right now! I have my art show at the end of month. Got a job offer, upload one of my poems from my first book of poetry, working on two short films, and I've been ask to do a TED talk. Yeah that was just the highlights from one week.
So life is wild. That only means one thing: wear leopard print.
Also here is my video for "a women's will." Shout out to the lovely & amazing Janae Jones for shooting it for me.
Now let's me just break something down right quick. Life has it's ups and it's down. And right now I would say I was on a "up." It's been amazing and great to share but let's be honest I don't think I would be this happy if it wasn't for the great people I am lucky enough to be surrounded by. My family, my friends, my co-workers, poets, etc. It's been an honor to have such a dope community that loves me and supports me. I guess I just wanted to talk a moment and say Thank you.
Thank you for being there for me, thank you for keeping me humble and strong, thank you for pushing me, and thank you for being you!
NOW... it's my job to send all that love right back into the world!
(OK. I promise my super cheesy moment is over now :)
Today is a lazy day. No work, no meetings, no rush. I about to head out and work on the newest NYLON challenge, then go to a movie, get some nachos then meet up with Shaprece to go dancing. The good life.
I like to think all this awesome stuff is happening because it's my birthday month. So you know.
Now back to your normal program...
It's no secret I love men's fashion. If I could I would design men's clothing and lately I've been finding myself helping my guy friends get dressed. Because let's be honest: there's nothing sexier than a well dressed man.
I grow up with a very well dressed Irish father. And anyone who knows my father knows he is always the best dressed man in the room. He is never seen looking a messy but always a clean cut gentleman. He has a huge influence on the way I dress and present myself. So thanks dad!
So today being a crispy sunny fall day I thought I would be a bit of tomboy. Why should the guys have all the fun?!
Alas, it's Seattle again. Meaning the short summer we had is gone and it has already rained. Oh, how I missed it! But because of that I have to bring all my fashions in doors, which I don't mind at all.
SO, last night I went to my friend's show to take some pictures and also just hang out. It was a strange and wild night. (I haven't laughed that hard in awhile...) And of course I didn't get home until 4 AM. So I am taking it very easy today. It's going to be an easy little Sunday.
Shirt (American Apparel) I usually don't shop there but someone got me a gift card.
So sorry for my absents! I have been so busy with work and poetry but I do have a really cool DIY in the works AND got the newest issue of NYLON so I am working on another Nylon Challenge. So please hold on tight. For now enjoy another round of "5 Things I am in love with... right now!"
Enjoy!
1.) White shorts
2.) Photo booth photos (Not the ones on your mac, but the REAL ones)
3.) Peppermint Tea with honey (I lost my voice so this is saving me!)
4.) Youth Speaks Seattle (But I always love them! :)
5.) Newest season of Project Runway (Tim Gunn is my idol!!)
Work has been very stressful. And to be honest it has a lot to do with the fact that I am in a male dominated industry. Being a woman filmmaker/screenwriter is hard. Shit doesn't come easy for us. Case in point, only one woman has won an oscar for best director. (Of course it took 85 years...)
Lately I've been dealing with a lot of guys "talking" down to me. I use to be one of the girls that thought "Everyone gets this shit. Be a 'man' about it."
I got over that real quick.
The reason why women get so much shit is because men did they wouldn't be able to handle it.
It use to get on my nervous, now it's fuel. Keep talking buddy. Whoever said success was the best revenge has no idea how true that statement is.
Brush it off, keep it classy, and smile in their faces.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
To the smartest and strongest woman I know. Thank you for teaching me how to be a lady and how not to take shit from anyone. You are amazing and the best person alive :)
First I had to wake up early to drop my friends off at the airport, ran some errands, then got lunch with Miss Robin Park, then went home and DID NOTHING! That's right NOTHING. I loved it!
An event that is rare and hasn't happened in a long time.
I literally painted my nails, made myself lemonade, and watched TV yesterday. I got a good solid 4 hours of doing nothing, really relaxing. Before of course going balls to the walls at Shaprece's EP release party. Which was mind blowing! If you missed it, YOU MISSED OUT. Such a wonderful and great show.
Now of course I didn't get to sleep until 5:00 AM. So I am trying to take it easy today. Which is why I am going to have a lovely Sunday Dinner with my sister.
boots (Nordstorm Rack) $20.00
dress (J.Mena gave to me) Freebie
jean vest (Found at a party) Freebie

So here is the crazy thing, my hair is really thick. There's a lot to handle, so I just got a hair cut and for some reason it's curly now!!
No curling iron, no product, NOTHING. This is my hair at it's most natural state... It's so strange.
This post is a post filled with updates and me playing catch up with things I forgot to post. So please, enjoy some of the joys of the past.
Here are some photos of Seattle's 2011 PRIDE that I forgot to post:
My dear and talented friend Shaprece is having her EP release party this Saturday at The Crocodile July 2nd. Here is the LAST & FINAL promo video edited & shot by yours truly:
