randomly

So... randomly I ended up at the Lil B show last night at Neumoes. In all honesty, I just went to go people watching with my friends because we thought it would be entertaining which it was! Then the next thing you know we are actually inside watching him.

It was too sweaty! And too funny! Most def a great adventure.

On the compete flip side I am off to my last day of work for the freelance gig I have been doing. It's very sad but also really nice to start May off with having 3 jobs instead of 4. Then later in May knocking that number down AGAIN to only 2 jobs. AW! I can't wait.

DIY: High Waisted Jean Shorts

It's that time of year again: Short season.

(Well I of all people don't believe there is a short season because I am the dummy that wears tights and shorts when it's raining. But you get what I am saying...)

I think I've posted about this before but my biggest secret about high waisted shorts is either going 3 or 4 sizes bigger or go to men's jean section. That way you can actually wear them on your hips and they fit more comfortably.

With that said I have 3 pairs of "mom" jeans that I turned into 3 high waisted pairs of shorts prefect for the summer time! And of course all 3 pairs coast me under $10.00

pair 1: $2.47 at Salvation Army             pair # 2: $3.65 Goodwill            pair # 3: freebie/give away pile
 photo 3jeans_zps94ec02d8.jpg

So the hardest part is really finding the prefect jeans. The cutting them into shorts is super easy. Best tips:
1.Fold in half. Seam to seam.

2. Always cut them longer, that way you can work up and give more room to roll them or distress them.

3. biggest tip on "distressing" them is to literally zip lining the open scissors down.

But do it slow and be careful not to rip the jeans or worse cut yourself.

Then once you cut them you can roll them, distress them, crease them or bleach them. Whatever tickles your fancy!

Enjoy. xo guttersnipe

the morning commute

It's only 9:30 and I've driven around half of Seattle. Busy busy week for me and it just keeps getting busier.

I was on the news this morning (King 5. At 8:30 AM and again at Noon) for the Grand Slam Poetry show this Friday. Now I am off to my internship and then my friend is forcing me to go buy my first pair of heels.

Yes folks. I do not own any heels. I am already 5'10" I don't need anymore help with my height. HOWEVER I am getting a pair today.

Does the job.

It's Monday. (well my Wednesday but the REAL Monday)

Let's be honest most the time my fashion is pretty effortless. Meaning I am so happy and feel my best in a jeans & a t-shirt. I've said it before and I said it again. It's my fashion secret.

(Well that and shopping at goodwill. Duh!)

birthday dinner & bamboo earrings

Not mine but my older sister's! Her birthday was a few days ago but since my family (like me) is always so busy we had to have the birthday dinner today.

So I don't talk about her a lot but my sister is amazing! She's crazy, beautiful, super freaking smart, and wild. Of course we use to hate each other. And we still fight but it's better than how we when we were little. We use to go AT IT! I mean I can be cheesy and she says my best friend, but we aren't. We are sisters. And I believe that's better.

Now on my sister's actually birthday we went to the DJ Quik show. One of THE best live shows I've been to in awhile. My sister's friend bought everyone old school bamboo earrings and I can not stop wearing mine.

2. gold & white
I love this combo anytime of the year but especially during the summer time. It's so fresh and beautiful.

1. Summer 2012
My two best friends will be in Seattle this summer and we already planning all the trouble we are going to get into. Of course, our plans will not go as plan but that's the fun part.

Tonight is the Youth Speaks Seattle Grand Slam Finals. It's going down at Neptune Theater right off the Ave in North Seattle. Doors open at 7:00, tickets will be sold at the door. So don't miss out! I am so excited to see all my poets bringing it tonight. So proud of them.

That was...ODD

I just got home from the ODD Future concert and it was a shit show. (Excuse my english but it was!) I also felt like I was babysitting because there were soooooo many babies. Keep in mind it was an all ages event but damn so many pre-teens. Insane. (What time is your mom picking you up?!)

I went with my sister (a birthday present for her) and her roommate. I took some amazing photos. A lot of them I will not post out of respect to those people but so gosh darn entertaining to me. So many people children lost shoes and for some reason a lot of girls were BAREFOOT. I mean really?!

I've heard stories about how crazy the Odd Future concerts can be so I thought I have to wear an outfit that was a show stopper and if I did get in a fight, one I would looked classy in. So of course I wore timberlands, sequins and velvet like the true Guttersnipe that I am.

TEDxWomen

Home. Finally. Getting used to the new blogger outline and the (stupid) facebook timeline. For the time being, try to bear watching this, because I have yet to watch it myself:
