Your Last Days

I finally quit my job at the breakfast joint I work at. It was a fun 6 months. I loved my regulars, loved my co-workers, loved working in that silly little hole in the wall but it was time for me to leave. I always seem to end up having 4 jobs no matter what I do! So now I am down to 3. Half of the reason why I left, other half... well doesn't matter anymore.

Like I always say: "Upgrade by down grading." (And that's with jobs... nothing else)

Plus; I want to actually HAVE a summer this year. Stay out late, sleep in, and kick back. BE 22!

Absolutely loving my summer nights!

movie night

First off Happy Birthday to the BEST dad in the world! You have taught me the first rule of being a lady; Ladies don't start fights they finish them. I love you dearly and you are truly the best dressed human I know. (I am sorry I always steal your nice button ups shirts!)

Now after working two double shifts and knowing you have two more ahead of you the only best solution is to go see a movie.

restless

I've been too busy. Too stressed. Worried too much about money and my 9 hundred jobs. But of course it's my day off and I don't want to be home resting. If I am resting I think I am doing nothing with myself and I hate that feeling.

So I of course am going out with friends. Knowing good and well I have work tomorrow morning bright and early. But as my dad always says "Sleep?! Sleep when you are 30."

Also Seattle summer is a hit or miss type of thing. It started off super sunny today then got all cloudy and gloomy. It might be overkill with me wearing a hoodie AND a jacket but I rather be safe then sorry. Sunny days; cold ass nights.

5 things I am in love with... (right now)

5. Neon nail polish
I've been trying to take extra care of nails lately. Making them look pretty with some bright neon colors helps.

4. Pairing food with fashion: Miss Moss
It's a very strange trend but I am really loving it. Find out about it on Honestly WTF. But for some eye candy go straight to the Miss Moss blog.

3. New Haarlem No 9 by The Bonds
This scent is my new jam! Every single time I wear it, men, woman, even babies stop and asking me what I am wearing. Love it! Best part about The Bonds line there's a scent for everyone.

2.  Lianne La Havas - Forget
It's become kind of my anthem this past month. Hold so true to my heart and current state of mind right.

1. Summer 2012
I know. I know. I already posted about it last time, but I still can't get over how excited I am for it!

(This post is a double feature)

Part One: The AM

Tonight is the Seattle International Film Festival opening night. I worked today so I planned my outfit last night so I can go home, shower, and jump right in to it. I of course will have the best date tonight! My best J.Mena. So excited but nervous. Nervous why?

becayse the trailer I edited and made for City Arts Magazine will be opening the film tonight. Which means I freaking out.....

Part two: The PM
OK! I am girly. But at the age of 22 I finally bought my FIRST pair of heels. I am 5' 11" so I am always scared to wear heels because I am so freaking tall. But tonight... I thought why not. Oh, yeah I also wore a dress. CRAZY!

that summer time mind

It's getting to be that beautiful Seattle summer. NO City can even come close to a Seattle summer.

Sadly one of my best friends Ericka (who was SUPPOSE to be here all summer) left for Miami. I can't be really mad at her because she has a job down there. Now on the other hand miss j.mena is back home. She just graduated from college (CONGRATS!) So that means me and her are just going to be lazy asses in the sun for the next few months.

shoes (Fred Meyer) converse $12.00
shorts (DIY High Waisted Shorts)
shirt (Salvation Army) $1.50
gold chain (Goodwill) $1.00
two smaller necklaces (Trade off: freebie)
red bandanna (Dollar Store) $1.00

Let me say that converse are THE best summer time shoe. They are comfy to walk in, slip off and slip on easily, the dirty they get the cooler they look. It's my go to shoe when I don't feel like walking around in flats or putting on heavy sneakers.

dancing business

Even though I had to be at work at 6 AM this morning, I went out dancing last night with a bunch of friends. I need to blow off some steam.

I've been stressed about work, money, boy trouble, this and that. And the only thing that makes me feel better is dancing. It's the only time my body seems to make any sense. I am a clumsy goofy person but when I am dancing it's the ONLY time I am actually graceful. And frankly my dear (when I am dancing) I just don't give a damn.

The playlist of the night was Whitney Houston's "Wanna Dance with Somebody"

and iggy azalea "murda bizness"

only slightly hippie

The Dream concert the other night was bloody brilliant! I had a blast. Kendrick Lamar opened for him and I have to say it wasn't his best performance. But The Dream killed it. There wasn't that many people there so it felt like a private show.

Then last night I saw hoodie allen. There were so many children! It was an all ages show but man that shit was ridiculous. Now way what you want about him; homie's got some pretty loyal fans. Also he was so into his craft. He is a GREAT live performer. It's always a treat to see someone actually excited about their art.

(my mother.)

Also yesterday was mother's day. (I had to work at the breakfast spot) But today my mom and I are celebrating. And let me tell you my mother is amazing! She was a hippie back in her day and most def one of my style icons. A huge inspiration on how I dress.
