Alright. Another one.

 photo IMG_1060_zps001a7edf.jpg

Since I have a day off I got to catch up a lot of things. Like this blog, tv, and of course my hidden love; sewing. I had a bunch of fabric laying around my room so I started making stuff.

I am actually very proud of what I was able to make.

Like this little summer top. I like working with jersey because its so easy to drape and great for summer. I kind of just sewed this in half and cut out arm holes. Just that simple.

Guttersnipe worthy.

something the sun does

 photo IMG_0100_zps1c126aa5.jpg

My beloved camera broke so that's why I haven't been posting. I just got her fix and I am back at it. Not to mention last week was the week from hell. I am getting over being sick, yet again. But the sun is coming out more so I am very hopefully.

Staying on the bright side of things.

I've been getting into the swing of spring. Getting a lot for great fashion ideas and style projects. I also got the latest issue of Nylon Magazine in the mail today. Finding some inspirations and will start working on a new challenge.

gypsy woman

I feel very "witchy" today. A cocktail of mischievous and mysterious. Pulling inspiration from the cult classics The Craft & Teen Witch:

(Top That!)

Or maybe I am just a huge dork. Either way...

I have two new DIY coming up very shortly and trying to do another Nylon Challenge soon.

(My hair - I swear - has a mind of its own. Today it's grape kool-aid Medusa)

Let Them Hate

Work has been very stressful. And to be honest it has a lot to do with the fact that I am in a male dominated industry. Being a woman filmmaker/screenwriter is hard. Shit doesn't come easy for us. Case in point, only one woman has won an oscar for best director. (Of course it took 85 years...)

Lately I've been dealing with a lot of guys "talking" down to me. I use to be one of the girls that thought "Everyone gets this shit. Be a 'man' about it."

I got over that real quick.

The reason why women get so much shit is because men did they wouldn't be able to handle it.

It use to get on my nervous, now it's fuel. Keep talking buddy. Whoever said success was the best revenge has no idea how true that statement is.

Brush it off, keep it classy, and smile in their faces.

shoes - (Payless) $5.00
Jeans - (JC Penny's) $7.00
Tank Top - (Nordstrom Rack) $5.00
Sweater - (Salvation Army) $1.35

Also:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
To the smartest and strongest woman I know. Thank you for teaching me how to be a lady and how not to take shit from anyone. You are amazing and the best person alive :)

Ever meet a girl like me before?

DIY: High-waisted Lace Cut-Off Shorts

I made these awhile back but haven't been able to wear them or blog about them. But alas the time has come and here they are: High-waisted Lace Cut-Off Shorts

First: find a pair of high waisted jeans. The secret is to look in the men's section. Find a pair slightly bigger so it can go over your hips. Then cut them off to the length you want.

second: Find lace. I found this beautiful lace at a fabric store on cap hill. It was $1.69 a yard. So worth it.

third: place the lace right on the edge of the jeans and sew.

Side note -- I personally love hand sewing more because it takes a lot of effort to get my mom's sewing machine out. But you can do either.

NOW if you want to get really fancy you can cut off the back pocket of the shorts and make a lace pocket like so:

And there you have it. Your own pair of high waisted cut off lace jean shorts. (That's a long title...)

Gold flats: (Payless Shoes) $5.00
DIY High-Waisted Lace Cut-Off Shorts: (lace - Stitches Fabric Store $1.69 a yard/jeans- Goodwill $3.50)
Cardigan: (Goodwill) $2.50
Tank Top: (Nordstorm Rack) $6.00
Necklace: (Goodwill) $2.00

(please excuse how pale I am. My skin tone is called "unbaked pie crust")
