5 Things I am in love with... right now

Been awhile but don't call it a come back.

5. Summer Blockbusters
The summer was made for movies. Popcorn, pop culture, and air conditioning. I can't wait. There is a huge line up but I am really excited for the movie Neighbors. It looks so funny! Hope it doesn't disappoint.

I hate the show Girls because I can't relate to it. Broad City however is my jam. Also found out they are coming to Seattle in the fall. Super excited for that.

gold link

New favorite artist - GoldLink (which reminds me I haven't done a "Top 5" in awhile) & new favorite necklace - one that says my name. Dripping gold.

I got the fabulous necklace from a website my sister told me about called Tatty Devine (follow them on Instagram!) My sister request her birthday gift be from there so why not purchase a little something something for myself. Good luck shopping - but be warned. This store is addictive!

I am not one of those people who keep good shops a secret (or music at that.) I mean what's the point! I believe to keep places you like alive is to share with your friends and family. Don't get me wrong though - I make sure to take all the credit when I turn people on to cool websites and stores. I mean who wouldn't!?

Today was raining, then not, then hailing, then not. Then raining and now it's sunny. So I just went with a uniform: flannel, black pants, and timberlands. Tie the flannel in a knot to give it a little lift as well as a spring vibe. Even if this weather isn't....

inspired thrifting: antiques vs thrifiting

As promised I am posting the photos from the antiques shops I went to with my sister when I was down in Olympia. Now let it be know there is a differences between vintage, thrifing and antiquing. People could argue that they are all the same but a true guttersnipe knows the differences.

For example my sister is a black belt in all three. I on the other hand am not. I am still trying to master vintage shopping and antiquing. I think I've broke down vintage vs thrifting before but too lazy to search my database (a.k.a the blog.) For right now I am going to tackle antiquing vs thrifting.

I like to think that one starts off as a thrifter and you work your way to antiquing. Shopping for antiques you need a good eye. You are basically searching for items that you can purchase, hold on to, and wait for their value to increase over time.

While thrifting is mostly about clothes. Antiquing is for pricey knick knacks, furniture, classic items from decades ago and house items. The two go hand and hand. Both art forms, both about the hunt, but you need to be in two different mind frames when you tackle either. That's why there are thrift stores and antique stores. Antique stores are usually more pricey.

The Line-Up

Now today I went to goodwill with j.mean and her co-worker from work. I was going to do a NYLON challenge because I haven't done one in awhile but realized I only have the November issue and November is pretty much over so I'll wait. Plus, I didn't like any of the trends they were highlighting in this month's issue. However I did see a pattern while shopping; lines & stripes.

A striped shirt is a good basic to have in your closet. They can be dressed up, a great staple piece, preppy, and a hint of french.

DIY: Charm Necklace

Got a burst of inspiration when I went to the beads store today. I was waiting for my bus and it was raining really hard so to stay dry I looked around the crafts store and got an idea.

Awhile back my pen pal Nate (a.k.a. bus stop bandits a.k.a partner in crime) sent me these great key chains. I thought they were the cutest things ever. I didn't know what to do with them until now.

Supplies:
Charms
Necklace Chain (about 2 ft)
Fasterns/Clasps
Pliers

1. Open one of the ends of the chain. Now the secret with opening a chain is to open it like a "gate." Using the pliers to lift it away instead of pulling it wide. The reason is because when you pull open the chain apart it breaks easier.

2. Attach the necklace clasps

3. I found the "middle" of the necklace attached my main charm which is the little blue wing creature.

4. Then laying the necklace straight out I counted out so the other charms were evenly placed.

5. The best step: Wear it & Share it.

Not a fan of the charm necklace? Well, wrap that bad boy around your wrist. BAM! Charm Bracelets.
